Overview
The District Manager is responsible for all aspects of achieving division production targets and all areas of production. The District Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations and fitness teams and staff at all levels of gym operations. This position also manages employee performance including, but not limited to, staffing, performance management and individual and team development while maintaining a positive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates membership sales in all assigned gym locations based on target goals.
- Advises Gym Sales Managers and Gym General Managers concerning sales and advertising techniques.
- Analyzes sales statistics to recommend sales policy and to assist gyms in promoting sales.
- Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, volume potential, price schedules, and discounted rates and develops sales campaigns in coordination with Marketing.
- Recommends product simplification and standardization to eliminate unprofitable items from sales effort.
- Represents Gym in the community and at industry association meetings to promote product.
- Acts as liaison between Gym-based sales and other functional departments.
- Holds sales meetings to encourage and develop sales expertise.
- Analyzes and controls expenditures of Division to conform to budgetary requirements.
- Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume and potential sales.
- Coach and develop staff based on performance, time and attendance and any other variables dictated by management via coaching either verbally or through formal disciplinary action and documented coaching records as well as Performance Improvement Plans.
- Encourage, motivate and educate team including but not limited to Regional team members, General Managers, Operations and Sales teams.
- Oversees designated gym budgets.
- Works with Management on Capital Improvement Plans and Budgets as well as P&L Reviews.
- Inspects gyms and tours with General Managers regularly to ensure consistency in product and adherence to policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required or applicable related experience of at least 5-8 years.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of gym operational and sales leadership experience.
- Must have multi-unit experience in a District Manager or Sr. General Manager capacity.
- Proven success in service and sales performance in a multi-unit environment.
- Must have positive attitude and be able to motivate staff in a positive manner
- Possess good leadership qualities.
- Possess strong motivational, communication, team building and training skills.
- Be self-motivated and strong organizational and sales skills.
- Ability and experience in effectively motivating and managing a staff of employees.
- Be promotionally-oriented and have the ability to direct sales through company required outreach programs.
- Must be able to take direction and adhere to Company polices.
- Must be willing to learn and adhere to new systems and procedures.
- Proficient in the use of all software programs that are utilized with in Gym.
- Ability to compute discount, interest, profit and loss; commission, markup, and selling price; ratio and proportion, and percentage.
- Ability to prepare business letters, expositions, summaries, and reports, using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.
- Ability to participate in panel discussions and to speak on a variety of subjects.
- Ability to role model and uphold the Company’s Mission/Vision/Values.
